1. 发现;发觉;察觉
    If someone makes a discovery, they become aware of something that they did not know about before.

    e.g. I felt I'd made an incredible discovery.
           我觉得我有一个天大的发现。
    e.g. ...the discovery that both his wife and son are HIV positive.

2. (第一个)发现
    If someone makes a discovery, they are the first person to find or become aware of a place, substance, or scientific fact that no one knew about before.

    e.g. In that year, two momentous discoveries were made.
           那一年，有两个重大发现。

3. (对不为人知的演员、音乐人等的)发现
    If someone makes a discovery, they recognize that an actor, musician, or other performer who is not well-known has talent.

    e.g. His job is the discovery and promotion of new artists.
           他的任务就是发现并推出艺术新人。

4. 找到;（偶然的）发现
    When the discovery of people or objects happens, someone finds them, either by accident or as a result of looking for them.

    e.g. ...the discovery and destruction by soldiers of millions of marijuana plants.
           士兵发现并销毁了大量大麻作物
