1. 扣牢;系牢
    When you fasten something, you close it by means of buttons or a strap, or some other device. If something fastens with buttons or straps, you can close it in this way.

    e.g. She got quickly into her Mini and fastened the seat-belt...
           她迅速钻进她的 Mini 车里并系紧安全带。
    e.g. Her long fair hair was fastened at the nape of her neck by an elastic band.
           她用皮筋将金色长发扎在脑后。

2. (用绳、带等)系上，拴上
    If you fasten one thing to another, you attach the first thing to the second, for example with a piece of string or tape.

    e.g. There were no instructions on how to fasten the carrying strap to the box...
           没有如何将背带系在盒子上的说明。
    e.g. Mamma fastened the picture on the wall.
           妈妈把画挂在了墙上。

3. (使)(注意力)集中于…
    If someone or something fastens your attention on a particular thing or if your attention fastens on it, you start to concentrate on it rather than on anything else.

    e.g. More and more her memory and all her thoughts fastened on one event...
           她越来越多地把记忆和心思都集中在一件事上。
    e.g. The discovery has fastened public attention on the possibilities of DNA analysis for resolving mysteries.
           这一发现将公众的注意力集中在用 DNA 分析技术来解开谜团的可能性上。

4. 集中注意力于;专注于
    If someone or something fastens on a particular thing, they start to concentrate on it.

    e.g. My mind attempted to calm itself by fastening on this trivial detail...
           我尝试将注意力集中在这个小细节上以让自己平静下来。
    e.g. It's a gross oversimplification to fasten on to the red deer as a threat to the environment.
           仅关注马鹿威胁环境的一面过于片面了。

5. 纠缠;缠住
    If someone fastens on you, they keep following, talking to, or staying with you, when you want them to go away.

    e.g. He's fastening on that poor girl like a leech.
           他像蚂蟥一样缠着那个可怜的姑娘。
