1. 法官；审判官
    A judge is the person in a court of law who decides how the law should be applied, for example how criminals should be punished.

    e.g. The judge adjourned the hearing until next Tuesday...
           法官将听证会延至下周二。
    e.g. Judge Mr Justice Schiemann jailed him for life.
           法官席曼先生判处他终身监禁。

2. 裁判员；评判员
    A judge is a person who decides who will be the winner of a competition.

    e.g. A panel of judges is now selecting the finalists.
           评判小组现在正选拔参加决赛的选手。

3. 为（竞赛等）担任裁判；评定
    If you judge something such as a competition, you decide who or what is the winner.

    e.g. Colin Mitchell will judge the entries each week...
           科林·米切尔负责每周对参赛作品进行评判。
    e.g. Entrants will be judged in two age categories: 5-10 years and 11-14 years...
           参赛者将分成两个年龄段接受评判：5 至10岁和11至14岁。

4. 判断；断定；评价；认为
    If you judge something or someone, you form an opinion about them after you have examined the evidence or thought carefully about them.

    e.g. It will take a few more years to judge the impact of these ideas...
           要再花上几年的时间才能判断出这些想法的影响。
    e.g. I am ready to judge any book on its merits...
           我愿意根据每本图书各自的优点来作出评价。

5. 估计，猜测（数量、大小、价值等）
    If you judge something, you guess its amount, size, or value or you guess what it is.

    e.g. It is important to judge the weight of your washing load correctly...
           正确估计待洗衣物的重量很重要。
    e.g. I judged him to be about forty...
           我估计他40岁上下。

6. 鉴赏家；鉴定人
    If someone is a good judge of something, they understand it and can make sensible decisions about it. If someone is a bad judge of something, they cannot do this.

    e.g. I'm a pretty good judge of character...
           我很善于判断人的性格。
    e.g. It would appear that my sister is a poor judge of masculine charm.
           看来我妹妹全然不懂得欣赏男性的魅力。

7. 根据…判断；根据…来看
    You use judging by ,judging from, or to judge from to introduce the reasons why you believe or think something.

    e.g. Judging by the opinion polls, he seems to be succeeding...
           从民意测验来看，他似乎胜券在握。
    e.g. Judging from the way he laughed as he told it, it was meant to be humorous...
           从他讲这件事时笑的样子来看，那应该是很幽默的了。

8. 根据判断；看来
    If you say that something is true as far as you can judge or so far as you can judge, you are assuming that it is true, although you do not know all the facts about it.

    e.g. They were typed records of his bets, going back a couple of years as far as I could judge...
           据我判断，这些是他过去几年下注打赌的书面记录。
    e.g. The book, so far as I can judge, is remarkably accurate.
           就我看来，这本书内容相当准确。
